A couple of years ago I picked up a big almost-empty dollhouse at a garage sale. I'd always planned to decorate it in a Victorian style but never got around to it. Finally, this summer I decided to work on it. After thinking for some time, I decided to make it a steampunk dollhouse (for a definition of steampunk click here). This blog follows my progress restoring and decorating the house.

Research and Decisions

Before starting to design my dollhouse I did lots of research. I looked through antique Sears catalogs, on various image databases, and on Google images for inspiration. My dollhouse already had one room with wallpaper, flooring, curtains, and decorative lights, which I decided was to be the living room/ entrance hall.
Somewhat Empty Dollhouse
After much thought, I came up with a list of rooms that I would create.
1st Floor:
-Kitchen
-Dining Room
-Entrance/ Living Room

2nd Floor:
-Children's Bedroom
-Adult's Bedroom and Closet
-Bathroom
-Office/ Craft Room/ Workshop
-Hall

3rd Floor:
-Map Room/ Library
-Attic
-Hall

Roof:
-possibly a rooftop garden
